Darrick Hamilton, Associate Professor of Economics and Urban Policy, Milano-The New School for Management and Urban Policy
Darrick Hamilton, Associate Professor of Economics and Urban Policy, Milano-The New School for Management and Urban Policy. I specialize in an emerging field in economics, Stratification Economics, which provides an alternative to orthodox economics for explaining persistent group-based inequality. It is an approach that goes beyond individual optimizations, and fuses insights from multiple social sciences to examine collective group actions and processes. Such an approach is not only an alternative to market based solutions, but also allows one to examine how markets themselves may actually reinforce inequality. My published articles have examined the causes, consequences and remedies of racial and ethnic inequality in economic and health outcomes, which includes an examination of the intersection of identity, racism, colorism, and socioeconomic outcomes. For more information about my research, the courses I teach, and the organizations I serve, please see (http://www.newschool.edu/milano/faculty.aspx?id=20142). Email: firstname.lastname@example.org.
