Keisha Davenport-Ramirez, Director of the Office of Intercultural Support (OIS)/Higher Education Opportunity Program (HEOP) and Student Ombuds Officer. I almost can’t remember a time when I didn’t work at the New School. I have been at the university since 1994. I started at Eugene Lang College in admissions and then I moved on to work in Student Services. My work has been rewarding in that it has afforded me the opportunity to combine my strong personal beliefs in the principles of social justice with my professional growth and development. I have been particularly committed to initiatives and programs that create access and support the goal of inclusion at the university. The Higher Education Opportunity Program has been a part of the fabric of TNS community for over 30 years. My work in HEOP is defined by the program’s mission of providing access and support to underrepresented and low-income students. HEOP has continuously played an instrumental role in university diversity. Through OIS we have been able to reach so many by organizing programs and events that challenge people across the university to discuss, debate and celebrate our many differences and embrace our many commonalities. “Life's most persistent and urgent question is, what are you doing for others?” Martin Luther King, Jr.
