Shana Agid, Assistant Professor, Art, Media + Technology and Director, Printmaking

Shana Agid, Assistant Professor, Art, Media + Technology and Director, Printmaking, Parsons the New School for Design. I am a queer trans masculine-ish white artist, teacher, scholar/activist and writer. At Parsons, I teach collaborative design, service design, and artist books. My work focuses on relationships of power and difference, particularly regarding sexuality, race, and gender, in visual and political cultures, including issues of criminalization and queer and transgender representation. I have an MFA in Printmaking and Book Arts and an MA in Visual Criticism from California College of the Arts. I am a volunteer member of Critical Resistance, a national organization seeking to stop the use of prisons, policing, and surveillance to address social and political concerns, a member of the editorial board for Radical Teacher and am the journal’s art director, and am on the board of directors of the Center for Lesbian and Gay Studies (CLAGS) at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York.
