Welcome to a virtual tour of (re) collection, an exhibition that used
The New Art Collection to explore the relationship between art
collections and their institutions. This exhibition offered insight into
the daily lives of objects, the role of institutional memory in a
dynamic university setting and at it deepest level asks what does it
mean to be an institutional art collection at the beginning of the
twenty-first century. The exhibit showcased newly acquired work, exposed
works rarely seen due to fragility, scale or subject matter, and
featured the recently restored mural Ecuadorian Festival, by Camilo
Egas, commissioned by The New School in the early 1930's.
