    Curriculum

Requirements for the Minor in History

The minor in History requires the completion of the following five (5) courses:*

    • Two introductory LHIS courses. With advance approval, these requirements can be fulfilled by a First-Year Seminar and/or ULEC courses taught by history instructors.
    • Two additional LHIS courses. At least one must be at the 3000 level or higher. One of the courses can be in another division or another Lang program, provided it has historical context and is approved by the program advisor. One of the courses must be either

      • LHIS 2016 Doing History or
      • LHIS 3001 Uses of the Past
    • One thematically related course from outside the History program (non-LHIS)

    * Two of the history courses and the non-history course must constitute a thematic cluster, as determined in consultation with the department advisor.

Students must receive a grade of C or better in all courses taken in order to fulfill minor requirements in History.

Self-Designed Major (BA or BS, Liberal Arts)

Students pursuing a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science in Liberal Arts cannot elect history as an academic minor; however, they can pursue a deeper study in this subject area through the self-designed major. To explore this, contact an academic advisor or read more about the self-designed option at Lang.
