Miri Park


Profile:
MiRi Park (Hip Hop in Context) is a NYC b-girl, modern dancer, actor, singer, writer, producer, and scholar. MiRi holds a BFA in Dance and BA in Journalism from UMass-Amherst and an MA in American Studies from Columbia University. Her academic work focuses on the oral histories of NYC b-girls in the 1990s and she has presented her work extensively at academic conferences. MiRi has written for The Village Voice, KoreAm Journal and Dance Spirit Magazine. She was on faculty at NYU Steinhardt where she taught hip-hop dance and culture and also served as the Program Coordinator for Columbia University’s Oral History Master’s Program. She most recently served as B-Boy Consultant on the Sony Screen Gems film Planet B-Boy (Jan. 2013). Recent performances include RENT @ the Hollywood Bowl, directed by Neil Patrick Harris, and the final Broadway tour of RENT with Adam Pascal and Anthony Rapp, as Alexi Darling/Dance Captain. She’s worked with choreographer Doug Elkins, Maura Nguyen Donohue/inmixedcompany, Rennie Harris, Marlies Yearby, Nia Love, and actor/producer Kate Rigg.
