Profile:Joseph Cermatori is a Javits Foundation graduate fellow at Columbia University, where his research focuses on modernism with an emphasis on the interconnections between theater, performance, and philosophy. As a lecturer and teaching fellow at Yale University and Columbia University, he has taught classes on theater history, Shakespeare, opera and music-theater, narrative fiction, and undergraduate writing. Joseph is also a member of the Brooklyn-based theater design collective Wingspace, an assistant editor at PAJ: A Journal of Performance and Art, a theater artist and critic.
