Humanity in Action: International Human Rights Fellowship Info Session and Film Screening
Please join Humanity in Action and The New School, for an information session on the HIA Fellowship followed by the screening of Just People: A Quest for Social Souls with Independent Minds, a film produced by Humanity in Action and directed by acclaimed Dutch filmmaker Annegrits Wietma.
Intensive and demanding, the Humanity in Action Fellowships bring together international groups of college students to study human rights and to produce original research exploring how and why individuals and societies resist intolerance and stand up for democratic values. The Humanity In Action Fellowships will begin in Washington, DC on May 27, 2013 at the Council on Foreign Relations and subsequently take place in Amsterdam, Berlin, Copenhagen, Lyon, and Warsaw from June 1 to June 30, 2013. Applications for the 2013 Humanity in Action Fellowship program are to be due by 11:59 p.m. PST on January 10, 2013. Learn more at www.humanityinaction.org/apply
Just People Wietsma's film essay explores the challenges and complexities of being an independent individual while cooperating in a social group- how not to be a bystander, how to dare to stand out from the crowd. The film connects past and present in a stunning global fabric of images and thoughts leaving the final question to the viewers: What would you like to be, a just person or just a person?
