Senior Work Preparation

Students at Eugene Lang College must complete a senior capstone requirement in their Area of Study. In the second semester of your junior year, we recommend you prepare and conduct some preliminary research for this requirement. It can be satisfied with an individual project, a collaborative project, or a special seminar course depending on the Area of Study. For some areas, note that you may have a prerequisite course to complete in the preceding semester. Unless approved for an exception, you must fulfill this requirement in your declared Area. You should receive 4 total credits toward graduation, and the requirement can be finished in either semester of senior year.

In addition to providing guidance and feedback about proposals, the chair also assists you with locating an appropriate advisor for your project. To discuss individual or collaborative projects, you should consult with the chair of your Area of Study (or designee) before a proposal is submitted.

All students must complete a declaration form by September 22 indicating how the senior capstone requirement will be fulfilled. The declaration forms are available through the link below as well as Leah Weich, Associate Director of Advising.

Schedule for Proposal Reviews and Revisions
Please refer to the information below for a timeline of important dates and deadlines associated with the senior capstone requirement. The deadlines are firm, so please do not wait until the last minute; late submissions cannot be accepted. If you do not abide by the deadlines stated, you cannot register in an individual or collaborative project for the spring, which could delay your graduation date…don’t let this happen to you!
