Profile:Francesca Tanksley studied piano with Sir Roland
Hanna, Harry Jensen (Franz Liszt tradition), and composition with Jimmy Heath.
She is a member of and has recorded with the Billy Harper Quintet, the Jeff
Siegel Quartet, the Erica Lindsay Quartet, and Howard Johnson's HoJo5, as well
as leading her own group, the Francesca Tanksley Trio. She has performed with Melba Liston, David
Newman, Cecil Payne, Laurel Masse, Nick Brignola, Reggie Workman, Clifford Jordan,
Charles Davis, Slide Hampton, Sheila Jordan, Jay Clayton, and others. Awards include: The ASCAP Louis Armstrong
Composers' Scholarship, Eubie Blake Scholarship, and Graduating Masters' Award.
