Spring 2013 Ensemble and Recital Series: Lesedi Ntsane, trumpet
New School Jazz student Lesedi Ntsane (trumpet) presents his senior recital.
Lesedi is a South African born Trumpet player who was introduced to the cornet at the age of 4yrs whilst at the Salvation Army Church, where he later learned to play. In High School he played for the SBHS Marching Band winning the national marching band competition for five consecutive years.After two years as an accounting major, he decided to enroll at the music department at TUT, under the mentorship of Bernt Baumann, John Davies, Kevin Davidson.After working with various bands like 4seasons, Phatt Brass Big Band, New Cool, etc he moved to New York in order to further his studies at the New School.It is here where he had the privilege of working with Cecil Bridgewater, Jimmy Owens, Marcus Printup, George Cables and Proff, Charles Tolliver.He has also been working with various bands in the scene but also leading a quartet and a trio. He is currently featured in this seasons's Jazz at Lincoln Center's Webop programme.
