Spring 2013 Ensemble and Recital Series: Matthew D'Amico, bass
New School Jazz student Matthew D'Amico (bass) presents his senior recital.
"My band and I will be performing some music by Herbie Hancock, Jaco Pastorious, Jimi Hendrix, and Johnny Cash. Each song that I choose has a connection to my life somehow and I will be putting my own style into it."
"My name is Matthew D'Amico and I'm a Senior at The New School of Jazz and Contemporary Music. I've been studying the bass guitar in this program for the past 4 years and have matured and grown both personally and musically with my studies.I began playing the bass in 5th grade and never really put it down. As a youngster I studied with Peter Prisco and Marcus McLourine to name a few Musicians who encouraged me to pursue my dreams at a more serious level. At the New School I was fortunate enough to continue my studies with many other great professionals including Jeff Carney, Jimmy Owens and Adam Holzman, to name a few, who enabled me to learn solid skills and to capture my own style, which I have become very proud of. Upon graduation I plan to pursue a career in music and hope to take with me many great memories and skills learned at The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music."
