New School Jazz student Devin Starks (bass) presents his senior recital.

Devin Starks is a young bassist originally from Cleveland, OH. He began studying bass at age 11 at the Cleveland School of the Arts. From there he continued his studies at various institutions around Cleveland including the Rainey Institute, Cuyahoga Communtity College, and the Cleveland Music School Settlement. Since moving to New York in 2010, Devin has begun to establish himself in the jazz scene and has had the opportunity to perform with renowned musicians such as McCoy Tyner, Charles Tolliver, George Cables, Frank Wess, and many more. Devin now attends the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music while also working as a professional musician and as a teaching assistant under Reggie Workman in the African-American Youth Legacy program. He has performed internationally at the Bern Jazz Festival in Switzerland and the Taichung Jazz festival in Taiwan and locally at various NYC venues.
