Standards: The Art of the Ballad
A performance course aimed at understanding how to interpret a jazz standard, with special emphasis on the subtleties of ballad playing. Attention is given to the influence of the jazz vocal tradition in shaping a personal instrumental approach to song. One vocalist will be accepted. Final enrollment is at the discretion of the instructor. 2 credits
