Campus Visit Programs
The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music encourages all visitors to take part in the three campus visit programs that we conduct weekly.
Summer tours will be available on Mondays and Fridays from May 21 to August 10 starting at 3:00 p.m. You can sign up for a tour on our online registration page.
The Jazz Information Session and Campus Tour is offered Wednesdays and Thursdays throughout the spring and fall semesters beginning at 3:00 p.m. This tour is our most comprehensive campus visit program.
The New School Overview and Campus Tour is offered most Fridays throughout the spring and fall semesters beginning at 10:30 a.m. This tour is suitable for first-time visitors and those not ready to talk to an admission counselor from the Jazz division.
The BA/BFA Dual-Degree Information Session and Campus Tour takes place on Thursdays at 12:00 noon. This information session is intended specifically for prospective students who are interested in our dual-degree program with Eugene Lang College The New School for Liberal Arts.
For more information about New School campus visit programs and to book a campus visit, go to the online registration page. Campus tours fill up; we recommend registering at least one week in advance.
Audition Preparation Workshop
The Audition Preparation Workshop, for high school sophomores and juniors, helps prepare students for college-level jazz auditions wherever they choose to apply. Current students, faculty audition evaluators, and audition rhythm section members share their experiences and offer advice about auditioning. Dates for the next Audition Preparation Workshop are forthcoming.
Admission Open House
Each November, prospective students and their families are invited to an evening at The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music. Enjoy dinner and music and meet our faculty, alumni, and current students. Learn more about our school and find out how it can fit into your college plans. Admission is free, but advance registration is required.
