Teaching takes place in multiple environments: in a required studio curriculum of theory, improvisation, ear training, piano, reading, rhythmic analysis, ensemble playing, music history, and composition/arranging; in instrumental or vocal private lessons, where students meet one on one with the great jazz performers of New York City; in an elective curriculum that features more than 70 performing ensembles and advanced composition, arranging, analysis, and technology courses; and in master classes, additional to listed coursework, featuring artists including Barry Harris, Lee Konitz, Sheila Jordan, Lewis Nash, Jim Hall, Brad Mehldau, Pat Metheny, and Dave Douglas, among many others.
