About

Filmquest
Filmquest (previously known as Elderquest) was introduced in the spring of 2006 under the leadership of Ivy Berchuck. Participants explore new narratives of aging presented in films and novels depicting transformative journeys undertaken by older protagnosits. Small-group discussions after the screenings provide an opportunity for participants to examine how the adventures of these characters relate to their own experiences. The program is funded by a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts and is open to the public as well as IRP members.

Fridays@One
Created three years ago as a special program for IRP members and the public, Fridays@One presents discussions of contemporary issues involving politics, culture, and the media.

The Lunch Bunch
The Lunch Bunch was founded a decade ago by Leon Brand and other IRP students and Michael Markowitz, the IRP director to help the men, at that time a small fraction of IRP members, connect on a personal level. The brown-bag lunch currently meets Wednesdays, between the morning and afternoon study groups and chooses a topic for discussion, avoiding politics, current events, sports and investments. All men are welcome, and new members are especially urged to give it a try.
