Software Installation

Basic Software (All Faculty & Staff Computers)

IT Service Desk (formerly Help Desk) setup of faculty and staff computers includes a standard software package consisting of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Powerpoint), web browsers (Explorer, Firefox , Chrome), Adobe Reader, Symantec Endpoint Protection (antivirus software), and LANDesk (“Desktop Manager” for Windows, “Software Portal” for Macs).

Adobe Creative Cloud Software

Depending on your work function and need, you may require use of Adobe Creative Cloud applications such as Photoshop, InDesign, Dreamweaver and more. To have Adobe Creative Cloud applications installed on a university office computer, please contact the IT Service Desk (formerly Help Desk) at 212.229.5300 HELP (x4357), or by email at itservicedesk@newschool.edu.

Additional Software

If you have purchased another type of software for installation on a university computer, please contact IT Service Desk (formerly Help Desk) to arrange for installation of the software. All installations will require that you present:

  • a purchase order or check disbursement form, indicating that you purchased the software, and
  • the licensing terms applicable to the software. In the absence of either of these documents indicating purchase of the software, the IT Service Desk (formerly Help Desk) will not install the software on your computer. You should not have the software installed in the absence of this documentation.
