Members of the part-time faculty can elect to participate in the university's health care and dental care plans as long as they meet the eligibility requirements set forth in the collective bargaining agreement between The New School and ACT-UAW. A key criterion is that a part-time faculty member must have worked at the university for at least one academic year (August–May) before becoming eligible for health care and dental care plan coverage. Newly hired part-time faculty members are thus not eligible for coverage during the first year of their employment at the university. The university offers dental care coverage with Delta Dental of New York. The plan offered is the DeltaCare USA (DHMO) Plan.
The DeltaCare USA (DHMO) Plan offers in-network coverage only. You must elect an in-network primary dentist when you enroll in the plan and obtain referrals from your primary dentist to see specialists. Please note that the in-network providers associated with this plan are in New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania only. You can change your designated primary dentist at any time by calling Delta Dental at (800) 422-4234. There is no plan deductible or maximum annual benefit on the DHMO plan.
