MS in Global Finance Application Instructions

All materials submitted become property of The New School for Social Research (NSSR) and cannot be returned.

Application Form
File the completed application form with the Admissions Office of The New School for Social Research. Be sure to answer all required questions on the Application for Admission. Applications submitted via CD, videotape, or DVD will be not accepted.

Application Fee
A nonrefundable application fee of $50 must accompany your completed application form. Applications will not be processed without this fee. Payment may be made by check, payable to The New School, or by credit card, using the Credit Card Authorization form.

Materials Cover Sheet
Applicants are asked to use the Materials Cover Sheet whenever they submit documents by mail. Failure to do so may delay the processing of the application. The Materials Cover Sheet can be downloaded from the Admissions section of the New School for Social Research website at:
www.newschool.edu/GF/admissions/ forms/0607_materialcoversheet_v1.pdf. Please read and follow instructions for submitting the Materials Cover Sheet.

Transcripts
An official transcript from each postsecondary institution attended is required. Only official transcripts sent directly by the institution to the NSSR Office of Admissions will be accepted. Transcripts not in English must be translated by an authorized translator. Transcripts from non-U.S. institutions must be accompanied by a course-by-course evaluation by a participating member of NACES (www.NACES.org). The New School’s preferred provider is World Education Service (www.WES.org). Transcripts that are faxed, stamped “Student Copy,” or downloaded from a university website will not be accepted.

Recommendations
Two signed recommendation letters are required. Do not send more than the required two recommendations. Forms are included in the application packet. Recommendations may be from faculty members who have instructed you or professionals with whom you have worked. Emailed recommendation letters will not be accepted.

Résumé
Please enclose a current résumé.

GMAT/GRE Results
GMAT or GRE scores are requested of all applicants. Applicants must score in the 70th percentile or higher on the quantitative section of the GMAT or GRE in order to be considered for admission. Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) or Graduate Record Examination (GRE) results should be sent to The New School for Social Research, ETS Number 2501.

TOEFL Results
The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), administered by the Educational Testing Service, is required of all applicants whose native language is not English, even if you have received university-level instruction in English. Request that the results be sent to The New School for Social Research, ETS Number 2501. A minimum score of 100 on the Internet-based test, or 600 on the paper-based test, or 250 on the computer-based test is required to document English language proficiency.

Statement of Objectives and Goals
Attach a one- to three-page statement of your academic objectives and career goals. Please include relevant biographical information.

Credit Card Authorization
If you would like to charge the application fee to a credit card and/or you would like to receive your decision letter by courier (at your expense), please complete the Credit Card Authorization form.

Deadline
Applications will be considered on a rolling basis up to nearly the time of the beginning of the semester. Applications for the spring semester that arrive after January 15 and applications for the fall semester that arrive after August 1, however, may not be processed in time for the beginning of the term. International applicants should submit ALL of their materials no later than December 15 for the spring semester and May 15 for the fall semester, to allow enough time for visa application if they are admitted.

International Applicants
Instructions for applying for an I-20, or, if appropriate, a DS-2019, will be sent to international applicants who are admitted to The New School for Social Research.
