Stone Barns - Farm to Table
Environmental Studies student Erica Schapiro-Sakashita spent the summer of 2009 a bit differently than most college students. She interned full-time at Stone Barns, a historic working farm and education center in Tarrytown, New York, that provides food for the Manhattan farm-to-table restaurant Blue Hill.

As an Environmental Studies student, Alex Smith was very interested in alternative power. He put that enthusiasm
into action in the summer of 2009, when he was one of several students
to participate in the university's field internship program.
Breaking New Ground | The New School Environmental Studies Program
This past summer, Environmental Studies students Ace and
Lili spent several days a week on Governors Island, the
former military base in the harbor between Manhattan and Brooklyn, creating
the island's first community garden.
