MyNewSchool Web Registration Procedures:
(For help look at the Web Registration Tutorial found here)
|
1. |
Log in to https://my.newschool.edu/cp/home/displaylogin using your NetID and Password. Review the schedule of classes using Class Finder. |
|
2. |
Check for holds. If there is a hold on your student account, you must resolve it before you register. |
|
3. |
Update your address, phone, or e-mail through the Personal Information link on your Student tab of MyNewSchool. |
|
4. |
Either e-mail your proposed enrollment plan to your student advisor, or schedule a time to meet with him/her. E-mailed proposals must state your name, ID #, and the full course titles and times of each class.
- If you are registering to maintain status and need equivalency credits, consult with your advisor regarding valid
academic activities and the appropriate number or credits. The Equivalency Credit Verification Form can be downloaded here. Complete the Equivalency Credit Verification Form and submit it to your advisor either in person or via fax.
- If your enrollment plan contains a course that requires a contract or other forms (i.e., Independent Studies, Pass/Fail courses, Permission to Overtally, Inter-university Consortium), you will be required to come to the university in person to complete additional paperwork.
- If you plan to enroll for more than 9 credits, you must get the approval of the Chair of your department and, if you have a scholarship, the approval of Tsuya Yee, Director of Academic Support, available at yeet@newschool.edu. Your scholarship will not automatically cover the tuition for more than 9 credits.
- If you would like to audit a class, or plan to take a foreign language class offered through The New School, you must wait to register for such courses in person at the NSSR Office of Academic Affairs at the start of the semester.

5. |
Once your registration is approved by your advisor, s/he will send/give you a six digit alternate PIN number and the course CRNs that will enable you to register on-line for your approved plan of study. If you are conducting your advising session over e-mail, please note that alternate PIN numbers will only be sent to your GroupWise New School e-mail account. If you do not use this e-mail account, you must make sure that your New School e-mail is forwarded to the account you do use (Contact the Academic Computing Center at 212.229.5300, x3067 for assistance). |
|
6. |
Register for the approved courses via the web at http://my.newschool.edu. The alternate PIN number that allows you to access web registration is your advisor’s authorization of the enrollment plan you discussed with her/him. |
|
7. |
A schedule of your classes and an invoice for tuition and fees, including approved financial aid awards, will be e-mailed to your New School e-mail address in early July. You can also view it at MyNewSchool. If there are discrepancies in your schedule, please call the Registrar at 212.229.5620, ext. 1478. You must make payment by January 10th/August 10th/, to avoid the $150 late fee. |
|
8. |
Payment will be due by the date indicated on the invoice. You can make credit card payments on MyNewSchool; however, your account information (awards/scholarships/etc.) will not be viewable until the week before classes. You must set the dollar amount when paying by credit card on MyNewSchool, so please verify your award/scholarship history via MyNewSchool, or check with the Office of Financial Aid to determine your outstanding balance. You may also make payment in person or by mail. Bank debit card and cash payments may only be made in person. Otherwise, you may pay by personal check, VISA, MasterCard, American Express, or by wire transfer. Please make checks payable to “The New School” and include your name and New School ID number in the memo section. |
