Prior to becoming Dean of the School of Art and Design History and Theory, Lawrence served as director of the MA Program in the History of Decorative Arts and Design at Parsons. Previously, Lawrence was the Andrew W. Mellon Post-Doctoral Curatorial Fellow at the Jewish Museum. In her fellowship, her specialization was in Jewish ritual objects, particularly metalwork. Her scholarship has focused on the work of Valerio Belli, Jacopo Strada, and Giovanni Battista Piranesi.
