Profile:Jazz saxophonist and educator Dan Greenblatt began his music studies in 1967 with Joe Viola in Boston and continued with mentors including Patience Higgins, Barry Harris, and Chuck Metcalf. From 1978 to 2002, he performed and recorded with George Cables, Jay Thomas, Don Lanphere, Jimmy Heath, Ernestine Anderson, Frank Wess, and many others in Seattle. He released a CD, Stretch, as a band leader in 1999. Since moving to New York, he has taught at Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts and at The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music, where he is now director of Academic Affairs. In New York, he has performed and recorded as a sideman with Junior Mance, John Hicks, Rufus Reid, Kirk Nurock, Satoshi Inoue, Amy London, and Roni Ben Hur, in addition to leading his own quartet.
