Profile:
Robert Buchanan is a longtime magazine feature writer with an interest in travel, adventure, and alternative sports. He started at Sports Illustrated in 1981 and went on to write for Rolling Stone, Details, and other magazines. He is now a contributing editor at Outside and a regular contributor at Men’s Journal. Mr. Buchanan writes often on sailing, climbing and mountaineering, environmental politics, and the effects of tourism and development. At Lang, he teaches a number of journalism and writing courses, serves as faculty advisor for the New School Free Press, and helps run Lang Outdoors, a series of hands-on courses designed to get students off the campus and into the urban
