Profile:
Grounded in the business world and human resources, Michael Markowitz made a midlife career change into human resources in academia. He has worked at Pratt Institute, Columbia University’s Teachers College, and The New School. Mr. Markowitz is the director of The New School’s Institute for Retired Professionals, the first campus-based program for older students and a model for hundreds of elder learning programs. He has been a member of the board of the Council of Senior Centers and Services of New York City for 14 years and has provided pro bono consulting and advising to dozens of aging services. Mr. Markowitz has served as a chair, panelist, and speaker at many conferences and meetings on aging.
