Yurie Fukagawa_Senior Recital Spring13

New School Jazz student Yurie Fukagawa (voice) presents her senior recital.

“This repertoire encompasses my past, present and future,” says Yurie of the music that has influenced her style and grounded her as an artist. Her reimagined interpretation of various jazz classics with original compositions will be a testament of how she has evolved musically throughout the years.

Vocalist Yurie Fukagawa sings the universal language of music. A multi-lingual voice that is unique among an onslaught of talented singers, Yurie, native of Yokohama, Japan loves to connect with her listeners through her soothing and passionate voice. Blending a myriad of styles, from Jazz, Latin, classical, pop and traditional Japanese music, Yurie is a dynamic and convincing storyteller. She strongly feels that the best way to bring people together and creatively communicate to one another is to interpret music with her voice and performance. Yurie has performed in various prestigious venues in the U.S. and Japan. She has graced the stage at the Carnegie Hall, IAJE International Convention with several vocal groups and the Allen Room at the Lincoln Center with the New School Vocal Jazz Ensemble.
