New School Jazz student Sean Smither (drums) presents his senior recital.

The entirety of the performance will be a single piece that will act as an open jam session. Performers will be responding to a musique concrète piece as well as to each other. The nature of the piece is highly experimental and deals with concepts learned from artists as diverse as John Cage, Pauline Oliveros, Karlheinz Stockhausen, Miles Davis, and Brian Eno.

Sean Smither is drummer and music theorist from Branchburg, New Jersey. Always interested in the academic side of music, he plans to attend a graduate program in Theory/Musicology after graduating from the New School.
