Negotiating the Terrain of Design Studies: Research, Reflection, Practice(1)

This symposium marks the inauguration of Parsons' MA Design Studies program. An international roster of scholars and practitioners examine the growing field of design studies as a branch of humanities and the social sciences, and as a critical force in the industry. They consider how design shapes experience and embodies fundamental assumptions about social relations and values. Their presentations offer a deeply contextual investigation of the social and environmental consequences of products and places.
