Inside the Business of Design is a series of one-on-one interviews between
accomplished design professionals and Keith Granet, principal of the design
management agency Granet & Associates. The series will explore the business
side of prominent architecture and interior design practices and shed light on
the insider details of how successful design firms are created.
The first event of the series will feature Robert A.M. Stern, founder and
Senior Partner of Robert A.M. Stern Architects. Stern is a
practicing architect, teacher, and writer, who is a Fellow of the American
Institute of Architects, and received the AIA New York Chapter's Medal of Honor
in 1984 and the Chapter's President's Award in 2001. He is the 2011
Driehaus Prize laureate and in 2008 received the tenth Vincent Scully Prize
from the National Building Museum. In 2007, he received both the Athena Award
from the Congress for the New Urbanism and the Board of Directors' Honor from
the Institute of Classical Architecture and Classical America. Stern is currently
dean of the Yale School of Architecture and was previously professor of
Architecture and director of the Historic Preservation Program at the Graduate
School of Architecture, Planning, and Preservation at Columbia University. He
has lectured extensively in the United States and abroad on both historical and
contemporary topics in architecture and is the author of numerous books.
Keith Granet is the author or the recently published book The Business of Design. Granet has three decades of experience in
the design industry and his firm Granet & Associates is a leading business
management agency for designers and architects.
