Joseph McElroy is the author of nine novels, including A Smuggler’s Bible, Hind’s Kidnap, Ancient History: A Paraphase, Plus, Women and Men, and Cannonball. He is a recipient of an award in literature from the American Academy of Arts and Letters, and fellowships from the Guggenheim, Rockefeller, and D.H. Lawrence Foundations, two from Ingram Merrill and two from the National Endowment for the Arts. He has taught writing at numerous universities, including Columbia, Johns Hopkins, New York University, and the University of Paris.
