The Ravinia Festival’s Steans Music Institute is a summer conservatory for talented young musicians from around the world. The three programs—jazz, piano and strings, and singers—offer master classes by musical luminaries and coaching with the institute's renowned faculty. Student recitals are performed as part of the Ravinia Festival’s summer programs, and many alumni of the institute have gone on to achieve success in solo performance, opera, jazz, and chamber music.
Founded in 1957, the Schneider Concerts chamber music series is praised as being “one of the best deals in town for lovers of classical music” by the New York Times. The series has presented many of the world’s chamber music notables before their rise to fame: Peter Serkin, the Guarneri String Quartet, and Tashi made their New York debuts in Schneider Concerts, and Yefim Bronfman, Yo-Yo Ma, and Murray Perahia performed in the series early in their careers.
