The Control/Print symposium brings artists and designers together in a lively point/counterpoint dialogue focused on the role of printed matter in an age where communication is largely celebrated in the immediacy and efficiency of the computer screen. As the work in the exhibition explores the growing relationship between human intervention and digital automation and explores the notion that technology can re-engage the tactile tradition of craft for the digital age, the symposium addresses topics such as materiality, technology and the new sensorium, chance and craft. Featuring the participating artists and leading voices from the worlds of art and design, including Paola Antonelli, senior curator of Architecture and Design at the Museum of Modern Art, and Susan Yelavich, assistant professor in the School of Art and Design History and Theory at Parsons.
