The year of the fall of the Berlin Wall, 1989, transformed the world, but it was certainly not the end of history. This joint NYLS/NSSR conference will explore some of the important ways that the great events of 1989 changed the worlds of politics, law, and culture. Four roundtables will be presented dealing with the events themselves, their political and cultural consequences, as well as their contemporary significance. Participants will represent a variety of disciplines and several generations, but will be united in the common purpose of trying to understand humanity better through reconstructing some of the paths to the present.
