A special screening and panel discussion of the PBS series Unnatural Causes: Is Inequality Making Us Sick? In response to recent reports highlighting escalating and disproportionate rates of diabetes and obesity in low-income communities, leading scholars explore the role that biological and social determinants of health play in the ever-widening wellness gap. Invited speakers include Lorraine Mongiello, CUNY Campaign Against Diabetes; Holie Jones, faculty member at Medgar Evers College; and Kimberly Libman, faculty member in Food Studies at The New School. Sponsored by Eugene Lang College’s Interdisciplinary Science and Race and Ethnicity programs.
