1. Determine whether you want to apply to Parsons The New School for Design or Eugene Lang College The New School for Liberal Arts.
2. Follow the instructions for Eugene Lang College or Parsons Undergraduate Programs according to your application and submit all support materials requested. The checklist below is provided as a general guideline.
3. Utilize the checklist below to gather all the required Environmental Studies materials to include with your application. Note: Parsons and Lang applications require some different materials.
4. Download and include a materials cover sheet with any materials that must be mailed. The cover sheet ensures that the correct school receives your application.
5. Submit your application by the deadline: February 1 for first-year students and April 1 for transfer students.
Required Materials Checklist
Include the following with your application:
- $50 Application Fee: The fee is payable, by check or money order, in U.S. currency, to The New School. If applying using the online application, you may also pay by credit card. This fee is non-refundable.
- High School Transcript(s): All first-year and transfer applicants must submit official secondary school transcripts. International students should submit certified records of any national examination required for completion of secondary education.
- College/University Transcript(s): All students seeking advanced standing must submit official transcripts. If more than one institution was attended, transcripts must be sent from each individual college or university.
- SAT or ACT Exam: Either of these exams is required of all applicants currently in American high schools.
- TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) Exam: A TOEFL exam required if English is not your native language. Please review the application information for Eugene Lang College or Parsons Undergraduate Programs for specific TOEFL exam minimum score requirements. International students should register for the exam at the earliest test date available. Visit the TOEFL site for more information.
- Letters of Recommendation: Please review the application information for Eugene Lang College or Parsons Undergraduate Programs for specific recommendation letter requirements.

- International Students Only: All applicants who attended high school or college outside the United States must submit an original transcript from each institution along with a certified English language translation. Applicants who would like to transfer academic credits earned at non-U.S. institutions must also have their transcript(s) evaluated by World Education Services (WES), our preferred provider, or by another member of the National Association of Credit Evaluation Services (NACES). A course-by-course evaluation report must be prepared for each transcript. Please start the evaluation process as early as possible, including the submission of all required documents to WES (or another provider), in order to ensure the timely completion of the evaluation report.
