WEIRD ABUNDANCE (PDF)
by Rebecca Stokes
directed by TBA

At 17, Anne Sexton was volatile, under-educated, manipulative, and bored out of her mind.  Then she discovered poetry – and everything got a lot worse. Set in the mid-to-late 1950s, WEIRD ABUNDANCE watches a woman whose struggle to balance her turbulent personal life with the grounded reality of her poetry causes her to create a flamboyant artistic persona. This intoxicating veneer of sex, drugs, over-sharing, and humor would make her famous, and would forever cast a shadow on the value of her work.  How do you reconcile the writing with the writer? Can you? And more importantly – would they want you to?
