For MFA Acting Auditions:
Acting is rooted in several fundamental principles that provide for emotional truth on the stage. We seek actors who can truly listen to their partners and be alive and “in the moment” on stage. Because it is difficult to tell from a monologue whether an actor possesses these qualities, we prefer to see the actor in both a contemporary scene and a classical monologue.
If, due to extraordinary circumstances, you are unable to audition at one of our initial audition dates, we accept videotaped auditions. However, we strongly recommend auditioning in person. Video auditions must follow the stated guidelines exactly. Please contact our Office of Admission to request a video audition and video guidelines.
