(While letters of recommendation from the same people are acceptable, they must address ways in which the recommender has seen change or growth in the applicant.)

Deferral of Admission MFA
An offer of admission to The New School for Drama is valid only for the year and term specified in the letter of acceptance. Each incoming class is admitted as a whole, and it is necessary to see how each student will fit in. Deferment of admission will not be granted under any circumstance.

Re-Application MFA
Individuals who apply to the program and are not admitted may re-apply the following year. The application process must be started "from scratch" each year, with a new self-assessment essay and new letters of recommendation. (While letters of recommendation from the same people are acceptable, they must address ways in which the recommender has seen change or growth in the applicant.)

MFA applicants must show proof of further training and/or theatrical experience. Individuals who submit substantially similar applications will not be invited to audition or interview.

Please note that MFA applicants who have been denied admission in two consecutive years must wait two academic years before applying again. (For example, an individual who is not admitted for Fall 2006 or Fall 2007 would next be permitted to apply for the class of Fall 2010.) Applications submitted before that time will not be reviewed.
