Observando el Cielo, a film by faculty member Jeanne Liotta, will premiere in Views from the Avant-Garde, a series that is part of the New York Film Festival. The film will be screened on Saturday, October 6, at 12:15 p.m. as part of the first program in the series, “From the Canyons to the Stars.”
Observando el Cielo (2007) is an exploration of the cosmos drawing on seven years of celestial field recordings shot from various locations.
Jeanne Liotta is a faculty member in the Department of Media Studies and Film and the New School Bachelor’s Program. She is an experimental filmmaker and artist whose works have been shown at MoMA, the Whitney Museum, Exit Art, and the Rotterdam and London film festivals, as well as the New York Film Festival. Liotta is an archivist of the Joseph Cornell Collection at Anthology Film Archive and the founder of Firefly Cinema, a series of public outdoor summer screenings in the East Village.
