Career Fairs

Attend one of our workshops to prepare for our career fairs and recruitment events
(you can request a list of attending employers at ParsonsCareers@newschool.edu).

These fairs enable you to meet with recruiters from different industries, gather information about career options, and connect with employers. Internship fairs offer you a convenient and unique opportunity to meet with a large number of organizations recruiting for fall, spring, and summer internship positions. Proper dress attire is required for admission.

Internship Workshop Series

Students interested in completing an internship are encouraged to attend. Learn how to find and register for internships, present yourself as a professional, and develop strategies to make your internship a positive experience.

International Students and Careers

International students seeking an internship, part-time employment, or full-time employment are encouraged to attend this workshop to learn about employment regulations and optional practical training and to ask questions about finding a job.

Anatomy of a Cover Letter

What is a cover letter? Why is it important? How do I write one? Find the answers to these questions in a fun, supportive environment, and learn how to make writing a cover letter less torturous, even, dare we say, easy. No individual cover letters will be critiqued at these sessions.

Your résumé presents you to potential employers. Whether you're writing your first professional résumé or have one that needs a tune-up, learn how to make it the best it can be. No individual résumés will be critiqued at these sessions.

Social Media and Your Career

The key to finding internships and full-time jobs is networking. Learn how to use social media to your advantage by learning to navigate LinkedIn. Learn how to create a profile, upload your résumé, and connect with New School and industry professionals. No work experience is necessary to begin building your online presence.

"Where do you see yourself in five years?" "What makes you think you're the best person for this job?" "Tell me about yourself." Don't know how to answer these tough interview questions? Need to brush up on your interviewing skills? This interactive workshop prepares you to answer with confidence, emphasize your strengths, and show your interviewer you are the right person for the job. Open to New School students and alumni at all levels of skill and experience.

 

Graduate Career Series

In collaboration with the Office of Career Development
Learn from professionals in your field how their graduate studies inspired them or helped them establish careers in entrepreneurship, start-ups, and nonprofits. Advice is given on ways to seek these opportunities and create new businesses and partnerships.

Jump-Start Your Career Series

Employer Information Sessions

Information sessions usually consist of a formal presentation about a company followed by a Q&A. They provide an opportunity for students to learn more about the company, meet recruiters, and gain insight on what it's like to work at the company.
