Dr. Yusuf al-Ahmad, as Islamic scholar who teaches at Imam Muhammad bin Sa’ud University in Riyadh, was arrested after posting a YouTube video critical of long-term detentions of security suspects without due juridical process. The arrest came on July 8, 2011, one day after the video was posted. Saudi authorities have yet to state specific charges against al-Ahmad.
