Abdollah Momeni

Abdollah Momeni, a student activist and spokesman for Iran’s largest reformist student organization, has been refused medical leave from his imprisonment in Evin Prison despite serious health concerns, according to a July 12, 2011, report from the Network for Education and Academic Rights (NEAR). Momeni suffers from serious health problems made worse by a hunger strike in June 2011. It is suspected that the medical leave was refused because of a September 2010 open letter to Ayatollah Khamenei, including allegations of torture and detailing psychological and physical abuses he experienced during his detention.
