The New School offers a variety of programs for graduate, undergraduate, and continuing education learners, including two graduate-level certificate programs.
The New School's Certificate in Documentary Media Studies is a one-year, full-time, graduate-level program situated in New York City, the world's documentary capital. In this program, students learn what it takes to be a successful documentarian. Historical, theoretical, and practical perspectives are explored, making our curriculum a good fit for a variety of goals. We welcome students interested in pursuing documentary professions or those seeking to continuing their graduate studies in such fields as media, anthropology, and film studies.
Through our Certificate in Media Management students acquire the knowledge and skills needed to pursue careers in the ever-changing media industry. Certificate students must complete four three-credit classes from media management curriculum areas and a 10-page synthesis paper. Key curriculum areas include industry perspectives, media management and leadership, media economics, information technologies, competitive strategies, and corporate responsibility. This 12-credit program can be completed online, on-site, or in combination. (All credits can be applied toward the MA in Media Studies for students who are admitted to that program.)
The Milano School of International Affairs, Management, and Urban Policy offers post-master’s certificates in Leadership and Change, Organizational Development, and Sustainability Strategies.
