7:00 p.m.

This event has been cancelled and re-scheduled for Spring 2013. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Award winning filmmaker Osman Okkanhas woven together portraits of six influential Turkish authors - Asli Erdogan, Nazim Hikmet, Yasar Kemal, Murathan Mungan, Orhan Pamuk and Elif Safak - into a compelling set of 6 short films entitled Human Landscapes - Portraits of Six Turkish Authors. Taken as intended, as a whole, the set of films emphasizes the particular approach of each author in the context of the shifting political landscape of late modern Turkey. Each of the six films raises important political questions around literary and political developments, human rights, minority rights, religious freedom and freedom of speech as it tightens its focus on the life and work, of each author. The screening will be followed by commentary and a panel discussion.

Please join Osman Okkan and our distinguished panelists for this screening of Human Landscapes - Portraits of Six Turkish Authors.
