Dean
Baker
Research Consultant

Dean Baker is a macroeconomist and Co-Director of the Center for
Economic and Policy Research (www.cepr.net)
in Washington, D.C. He previously worked as a Senior Economist at
the Economic Policy Institute and as an Assistant Professor at Bucknell
University. His book, Getting Prices Right: The Battle Over the
Consumer Price Index (M.E. Sharpe, 1997), was a winner of a
Choice Book Award as one of the outstanding academic books of the
year. He has worked as a consultant for the World Bank, the Joint
Economic Committee of the U.S. Congress, and the OECD's Trade Union
Advisory Council. His columns have appeared in many major media
outlets including Atlantic Monthly, the Washington Post,
and the London Financial Times. He is frequently cited in
economics reporting in major media outlets, including the New
York Times, the Washington Post, and National Public
Radio.
Nelson
Barbosa

Nelson received his PhD in economics from The New School for Social Research; he is currently a professor at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) and an economic advisor to the President of the Brazilian National Bank for Social and Economic Development (BNDES). He is a former Research Assistant, Dissertation Fellow, and Assistant Director at SCEPA.
Codrina
Rada
Research Consultant

Codrina Rada is a PhD student in the Economics Department and
she is currently a Research Assistant at the Schwartz Center and
recipient of the Ford Dissertation Fellowship. Codrina's main research
interest is focused on structuralist macroeconomic models in particular
on how financial factors interact with the real economy represented
by the investment behavior and give rise to business cycles or financial
crises. She has also done work on the topics of economic convergence
and structuralist methodology. Codrina is from Romania and holds
a BA in economics from the Universitatea de Vest Timisoara and
an M.A. in sociology from UMass-Boston.
John
Schmitt
Research Consultant
John Schmitt is a Research Associate at the Economic Policy Institute.
He has written for popular and academic publications on wage inequality,
the minimum wage, education, and comparative economic performance.
He has also traveled, studied, and worked extensively in Latin America,
most recently in El Salvador, where he worked with the United Nations
peacekeeping mission. He holds a PhD in economics from the London
School of Economics.
