    General Prevention Strategies

    • High risk individuals (age 65 and over, all people age 2 to 64 years with chronic medical conditions, all pregnant women, all out-of-home caregivers and household contacts of children under 6 months, all health care personnel with direct patient care) should receive an annual influenza vaccination beginning in October. Check with your health care provider for contraindications.
    • Cover your cough and sneeze.
    • Stay home if you are sick with a fever and cough. Call Student Health Services for medical advice.
    • Wash hands with soap and water (for 20 seconds) or use an alcohol-based (alcohol content must be at least 60%) hand cleaner.
