  • The New School Bachelor's Program for Adults and Transfer Students is designed specifically for working professionals and experienced adults seeking an alternative to the traditional undergraduate experience. We welcome students who want to complete their degree after several years away from formal education, transfer students from community colleges, military veterans, career changers, and more.

    Our program gives students with a range of backgrounds and experiences the flexibility and individual guidance to design a personalized path of study that fits your interests, goals, and schedule.   • At The New School, you have the freedom and flexibility to design an individualized course of study that prepares you for what’s next in your professional and personal life. Choose from 26 subject areas to design your own Liberal Arts curriculum, or complete a major in Creative Writing, Environmental Studies, Food Studies, Global Studies, Management, Media Studies, Psychology, Urban Studies, or Musical Theater.

  • Going back to school doesn’t mean starting over from scratch. Your prior experiences can make your path to graduation faster and more affordable. When we map out your journey toward your degree, we carefully consider the knowledge you’ve acquired through previous college-level study, professional experience, artistic and creative pursuits, foreign language learning, independent research, military service, and more. This allows you to earn up to 84 credits toward the 120-credit requirement for your bachelor’s degree. 

  • In your first semester of the program, you are assigned a core faculty advisor who has a nuanced understanding of the liberal arts as well as the policies and academic opportunities at The New School. Your advisor works with you throughout your studies to map out a purposeful, manageable, and affordable plan for finishing your degree and pursuing your professional goals.
