The School of Undergraduate Studies (SUS), is one of five schools in The New School for Public Engagement. SUS offers an individualized program of study in the liberal arts. From the admissions process through graduation, you work closely with an academic advisor to explore your options, create a curriculum based on your interests and career goals, and learn about resources available to you at the university. You can also apply credits earned at other institutions toward your degree and earn credits for prior experiential learning.

More than 400 teachers offer courses at The New School for Public Engagement, which they typically develop around their areas of expertise. You choose from hundreds of classes available to you in the liberal arts and creative and practical arts. Concentrated subject areas give your program structure, and classes are offered evenings, weekends, and even online to help you incorporate school into your busy schedule. Classes are generally small in size, and active participation by you and your classmates is encouraged and expected.

As a New School student, you can also take advantage of the resources at other divisions of the university—including Parsons and Mannes. You can even begin working towards your master's degree in programs at The New School for Public EngagementThe New School for Social Research, and Milano School of International Affairs, Management and Urban Policy.
