newschoolnet uses software called Safe•Connect to ensure a safe and reliable network environment. The Safe Connect Agent will check to make sure your computer complies with The New School's Information Security Policy. 1. To begin the install process, open a web browser which will direct you to the Authentication Page to login the network. The authentication page looks like this:
2. On successful authentication, you are automatically presented the Policy Key download page. This only appears for users who have not already installed the Policy Key. To install the Policy Key, click on the link that says "Yes, I will install the Policy Key and accept the terms and conditions for Internet Use."
- Safe Connect automatically determines which kind of Policy Key you need, based on you Operating systems.
- Click Run when the installer download dialogue box appears
- Run the installer. The installer takes approximately 15 to 45 seconds to run.
- Once installed, the Policy Key does its initial assessment within about 5 to 10 seconds.
3. Non-compliance Anti-Virus Notification: If your machine is not up-to-date with your anti-virus definitions, a web page will appear that states the issue and provides instructions and/or links for troubleshooting. All online compliance resources remain accessible including offsite anti-virus, anti-spy ware vendors and Microsoft updates.
4. Continuous Assessment: Notification pages are presented for one violation at a time. You will automatically be notified of violations. NOTE: The Policy Key does not need to be reinstalled or reinitialized after you comply with policy. All assessments are reported, and responded to, automatically in real time.

4. Locate and open the SafeConnectMacInstaller.zip file in your Downloads folder.
5. Locate and run the SafeConnectMacInstaller package in your Downloads folder.
6. Click Continue and follow the onscreen instructions to install Safe•Connect
7. Wait for Installation process to complete
8. Safe•Connect is now installed on your machine
